Dodd's vision includes supporting women in the games industry with events, networking, and opportunities to celebrate each others' accomplishments. With 90+ recognized gaming companies working with 25 miles of Dundee, it is important to support women in the emerging industry. Especially for a North American audience, it is important to realize that Dundee is the hothouse of digital development in the United Kingdom, even though Rockstar (maker of Grand Theft Auto) has moved its headquarters to Edinburgh, and Glasgow has its own digital development (related to the comics industry, which again has its historical roots in Dundee). Girl Geeks supports women programmers, entrepreneurs, and creatives. It started as a dinner series in Dundee and has since won corporate funding to support expansion, and now supports groups in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen.
