Call for SHORT Papers, Respondents, Discussants
Group for Early Modern Cultural Studies annual conference
December 4-7, 1997
Chapel Hill, NC
The Margaret Cavendish Society is sponsoring a session on "New Directions in Cavendish Studies" that seeks to chart the trends and key research questions of those involved in Cavendish scholarship.
This session will be organized around several short (5-minute) presentations outlining new work and work-in-progress that either focuses upon lesser-known Cavendish writings or approaches her work from a new or interdisciplinary perspective. These presentations will be followed by specific responses as well as open discussion. We aim to promote dialogue between established Cavendish scholars and newer voices in the field.
To be considered for a space at the podium, please send a completed 3- to 4-page (double-spaced) paper summarizing your Cavendish project and the key questions you seek to answer. Potential respondents/discussants, please send a brief outline of what you consider to be some of the major research opportunities and challenges facing those working on Cavendish today. E-mail submissions are encouraged. Please send to Nancy W. Miller at the address below.
DEADLINE: April 1, 1997.
