By constructive use, Joyce means using hypertext for invention or
analysis. Instead of an audience, constructive hypertexts rely on
scriptors who,
- "...use a body of information that they map according to their
needs, their interests, and the transformations they discover as they
invent, gather, and act upon that information" (42).
- Furthermore,
- "A constructive hypertext should be a tool for inventing,
discovering, viewing and testing multiple, alternative organizational
structures of thought with more traditional ones and transforming one
into the other" (43).
